Auto-tune is a piece of pitch
correction software which was created by Antares Audio Technologies, but now
the word “auto-tune” is widely used to refer to any technology who can correct
off-key vocals.
Auto-tune has come to popularity since 1998. It began with
a song called “Believe” by the American singer Cher. Intended, in the first
place, to correct off-key vocals, many artists, especially pop singers have later
found it interesting to create new music styles, like T-Pain, Lil Wayne and
Kanye West.
The major belief nowadays is that anyone can sing with
auto-tune since it will make your pitch perfect. But my belief is that to be a
real singer you need much more than that. So in my project, I will dig into the
history of auto-tune, find out interesting technical aspects of it, and prove
that to be a singer, auto-tune is just not enough.
